SYS.03 - Public Address & Voice Alarm
Heard clearly every day. Trusted completely in an emergency.
One audio system, two very different jobs: background music and announcements that shape the everyday experience of a space – and voice alarm messaging that calmly, intelligibly guides people to safety when it matters most.
Overview
Public address and voice alarm are not the same thing
A public address system handles the everyday: background music in a restaurant or resort, zoned paging in a warehouse, flight and passenger announcements in a terminal. Its priorities are sound quality, coverage and ease of use.
A voice alarm system is life safety equipment. It must deliver intelligible, pre-recorded or live evacuation instructions in an emergency – with supervised amplifiers, monitored speaker lines, backup power and automatic fault reporting, because failure is not an option when the message is “evacuate now”.
Modern IP-based platforms can do both from one system: everyday audio with life safety-grade reliability underneath. We design across the full spectrum, from a small hospitality venue to a multi-zone airport or stadium deployment, indoors and out.
Capabilities
From background music to automated evacuation
● Background music
Even, comfortable audio coverage for restaurants, bars, retail spaces, hotels and resorts – tuned to the acoustics of each area.
● General announcements
Live and scheduled announcements from call stations, reaching one zone, several zones or the whole facility.
● Zoned paging
Address exactly the areas you need – a single floor, a wing, a warehouse aisle – without disturbing the rest of the site.
● Voice alarm
Emergency messaging with supervised amplification, monitored speaker circuits and battery backup, engineered for reliability under fault conditions.
● Automated evacuation messaging
Pre-recorded, phased evacuation instructions triggered automatically by the fire detection system, zone by zone according to the evacuation strategy.
● Fire system integration
Direct interface with fire panels so detection events initiate the correct announcements without operator delay.
● IP-based architecture
Networked audio distribution that scales across buildings and sites, simplifies cabling and supports centralised management.
● Indoor & outdoor coverage
Loudspeaker types for every environment – ceilings, walls, horns and columns – from intimate interiors to open-air areas.
A note on compliance: voice alarm platforms such as those we specify are developed against international life safety standards, but final compliance of any installation depends on the system design, local regulatory requirements, installation and commissioning. We design with the applicable standards for your project in view from the start.
Applications
Scaled to the space
The same discipline serves radically different environments:
- Hospitality - restaurants, bars, nightclubs, hotels and resorts, where music and ambience come first.
- Workplaces & logistics - offices and warehouses needing clear zoned paging across large or noisy areas.
- Large public venues - airports, stadiums and transport hubs, where announcements and certified-grade evacuation messaging must reach thousands of people intelligibly.
● Bosch technology
Audio engineered for life safety
Bosch has been building public address and voice evacuation systems for decades, and its current IP-based platforms bring that experience into fully networked architecture: amplifiers, call stations and controllers connected over the network, with continuous self-supervision of every critical path.
The portfolio spans intimate hospitality installations through to phased, multi-zone evacuation systems for the largest public buildings – with loudspeakers designed for speech intelligibility as well as music quality.
Because the platforms interface directly with Bosch fire detection, evacuation messaging becomes an automatic, coordinated part of the life safety response rather than a manual step.
